0:08 - we are witnessing one of the greatest
0:09 - technological leaps in the history of
0:12 - endeavor the rapid rise of powerful
0:15 - artificial intelligence is considered by
0:18 - many of the greatest thinkers of our age
0:21 - to be no less significant no less
0:24 - important than the discovery of
0:26 - electricity uh the splitting of the atom
0:29 - the creation of the worldwide web or
0:32 - even the harnessing of
0:35 - fire AI holds the potential to
0:39 - completely transform Life as we know it
0:41 - to help us better treat and perhaps even
0:44 - cure conditions like cancer heart
0:49 - Alzheimer's to hasten our journey
0:51 - towards net zero and realize a new era
0:55 - of potentially Limitless clean green
0:58 - energy even just to help us make our
1:01 - everyday lives a bit
1:03 - easier however if we are to realize the
1:07 - untold benefits of AI then we must work
1:11 - together on combating its significant
1:15 - too AI continues to advance with ever
1:18 - greater speed towards models that some
1:21 - predict could surpass human abilities
1:27 - understanding there is a clear
1:29 - imperative to to ensure that this
1:31 - rapidly evolving technology remains safe
1:35 - secure and because AI does not respect
1:39 - International boundaries this Mission
1:42 - demands International coordination and
1:46 - collaboration to support this Global
1:49 - effort the United Kingdom is proud to
1:51 - host this Summit in Bletchley Park the
1:55 - birthplace of modern Computing where
1:58 - Alan churing famously cracked back the
2:00 - Enigma code and laid the foundations for
2:05 - age transitions like the one AI is
2:08 - heralding always presents profound
2:11 - challenges especially in preparing for
2:16 - consequences it is incumbent on those
2:19 - with responsibility to meet these
2:22 - challenges to protect people's privacy
2:25 - and livelihoods which are essential to
2:28 - both our economic and psychological
2:31 - well-being to secure our democracies
2:33 - from harm and to ensure the benefits of
2:37 - new technology are shared by
2:40 - all I've always believed in the
2:43 - importance of holding a
2:45 - conversation both within and across
2:47 - societies to address such great
2:50 - challenges of bringing governments in
2:53 - the public sector together with civil
2:55 - society and the private sector in that
2:58 - conversation adhering to the values
3:01 - tenants of faith and laws that we all
3:06 - dear that is how the International
3:08 - Community has sought to tackle climate
3:11 - change to light a path to Net Zero and
3:15 - Safeguard the future of our
3:17 - planet we must similarly address the
3:20 - risks presented by AI with a sense of
3:24 - urgency unity and Collective
3:27 - Strength so on behalf of the United
3:30 - Kingdom I want to thank you all for the
3:34 - vital role you are playing in this
3:37 - Endeavor for laying the foundations of a
3:40 - lasting consensus on AI safety and for
3:44 - ensuring that this immensely powerful
3:47 - technology is indeed a Force for good in
